Iraq Overtakes Iran in Oil Production, IEA Data Shows

ISTANBUL-- August 15, 2012--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Iraq's oil output rose to more than 3 million barrels per day (BBL/d), the highest output since the U.S.-led invasion, International Energy Agency (IEA) data showed. The country surpassed Iran as the second-largest producer in Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) after Saudi Arabia for the first time since the late 1980s. Iranian oil output fell below 3 million BBL/d for the first time in more than two decades, dropping to 2.9 million BBL/d in July 2012.
