RANCHO SANTA FE, CA (PRBuzz.com) August 24, 2012 -- The Modern Whig Party has announced that it is formally endorsing independent candidate and seasoned executive, T.J. O'Hara, for the Office of President of the United States.
The Modern Whig Party held its National Convention this August in Bloomington, MN. It was attended by registered Whigs both in person and on-line. Each candidate was vetted for over an hour during live, open Q&A sessions during which they could be queried on any subject to test the breadth and depth of their knowledge. Whig members were then provided with links to the candidates' websites, etc. and given a week to further research the candidates and cast their votes electronically. In the end, O'Hara received an overwhelming consensus.
O'Hara is running as an independent without any formal party affiliation. However, he has drawn unusually strong interest from a wide-variety of parties, organizations, and the general public because of his unique approach to the presidency.
"Our country is in crisis, and we need a full-time President who is capable of exercising independent judgment rather than being required to comply with his or her party's platform and to grant favors to repay political debts," O'Hara says. "One of the reasons I am so honored to accept the nomination of the Modern Whigs is because they do not place traditional party constraints upon the Presidential candidate they endorse. The Modern Whigs are a model for what American politics needs to become."
The Whig Party was established in 1833 and was the original party of Abraham Lincoln and four other U.S. Presidents. Revived in 2007 by Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans who were disappointed with what they found upon their return, this grassroots movement has quickly attracted tens of thousands of new members. It represents politically moderate and independent-minded voters from all walks of life that are committed to finding pragmatic solutions to the problems facing our country by putting methodology above ideology and using rational thinking instead of partisan dogma.
Andrew Evans, National Chairman of the Modern Whig Party, says, "T.J. O'Hara is a perfect fit for our party. He respects the Constitution, leads with integrity, and offers practical, non-partisan solutions that are in alignment with our beliefs."
While the major party candidates wage personal attacks on each other, O'Hara, a turnaround expert, has been identifying specific solutions to the country's most pressing issues. One of the unique aspects of his approach is that many of his solutions are grounded in the private sector and do not require government regulation or the expenditure of tax payer dollars. He believes that this is not only necessary to reduce the national debt but that it is also congruent with the concept of limited government as prescribed by the Constitution.
