IBM, others lift Dow average to a 5-year high

Big Blue shed a little bit of green on Wall Street today as IBM Corp. (NYSE: IBM) helped lift the Dow average to a 5-year high. Strong earnings from the likes of RTP staple IBM and Calif-based Google (Nasdaq: GOOG), coupled with a vote by the House of Representatives to extend the debt ceiling, brought the Dow up 67.12 points to close at 13,779.33 — the highest level since Oct. 31, 2007.
